Our second time performing in HopCat Detroit's Huma room was even more enjoyable than the first. Detroit's annual "Dally in the Alley" festival was in full swing, so the house was packed. Sharing the stage with a mammoth television screen broadcasting a baseball game (in which the hometown Tigers were being massacred) was a little unsettling, but we rose above it. Photos below show Steve and Eric doing a quick sound check.
The load in was rainy again, but not nearly as bad as the deluge last time around.
This was a last-minute booking, and as we hadn't had sufficient time to alert the Pebble Universe, we found ourselves playing to a brand new audience. Challenge accepted! Made some new friends, enjoyed the delicious wares (Eric had the wheats, Steve was partial to the IPAs), and a good time was had by all.
A raucous cover of the classic Beatles song, "Come Together" along with the Who's "Baba O'Riley" were high points as far as covers go. Eric's "Black Cloud" was warmly received, as was Steve's "You Be Me." Two sizeable birthday parties also kept things lively.
As the the Tigers hung their heads in defeat and the crowd settled down to a more pensive mood, the band closed with "Good Old Days" and then called it a night.
